Environemental Excellence Award
Club and Sponsor

The Ecology Club and Sponsor Donna Burrus received the Environmental Excellence Award from SeaWorld.  The club was recognized for four years of work in environmental sustainability. The club used the prize monies to support a new project, Bat STEM study that was conducted by 5th graders and Biology II classes joing the Ecology Club. The club sponsor was honored by the NSTA and SeaWorld for the three years of the Bat STEM Study. 

3X National High School of the Year

The Ecology Club has won the top Senior project in Tennessee for six years and has been selected as the top energy education project in the nation for the third time.

This year we received a Outstanding Project Recognition as the most Outstanding School Energy Efficiency Project in the USA!

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation selected our NEED Project as the top Senior NEED project in the state of Tennessee.  

Youth Garden Grant Award

Mary Margaret's Garden, our outdoor classroom won one of the National Gardening Association's Youth Garden Awards.  There were over 2500 gardens submitted from across the nation for this presteigious award. 

Conservation Educator
of the Year

Donna Burrus was nominated by the Tennessee Nature Conservancy for the Tennessee Wildlife Federation's Environmental Educator of the Year and received this award in June in Nashville for her many years of work teaching others about conservation of Tennessee's natural resources and wildlife.  The Bat STEM Project was presented to the Tennessee Bat Working Group's Annual Conference in 2014.
